Elizabeth Edmondson (1948–2016) was born in Chile, raised in Calcutta, and studied at Oxford. She was the author of twenty-eight novels, including *The Villa in Italy*, *The Villa on the Riviera*, and *The Frozen Lake*, which have been translated into several languages. The first two books in the A Very English Mystery series (A Man of Some Repute and A Matter of Inheritance) were published in 2016, and the final title, A Matter of Loyalty, was published in 2017, completed from her notes after her death by her son Anselm Audley, also an author.

 

 

Anselm Audley was born in Bath, England, in 1982. He studied ancient history at Oxford and the British School in Rome and later earned a second degree in planetary sciences. He is the author of four fantasy novels—Heresy, Inquisition, Crusade, and Eve—and several shorter works of nonfiction in Amazon’s Kindle Singles program, as well as the final book in A Very English Mystery, which he completed from his mother’s notes after her death. His books have been translated into six languages.
